Upon seeing the vehicle, Enrico Piaggio remarked, “Sembra Una Vespa!” Italian for It Looks like a wasp! He was of course referring to the two wheeled wonder “Vespa” where I must admit am very passionate about. My love affair with the Vespa didn’t begin with a fairytale start but instead was a traumatic experience.
It all began on a pretty regular working night at my previous job here in the south. My friend was accepting his delivery of a second hand vespa px150 from a colleague of ours who was selling his vespa and shifting from scooters to big bikes. We were all standing there and I being a really curious guy sat on the vespa and said i’d like to try it out. Being a very good friend he let me. It all happened in a flash, like a blur i became from feeling hunky riding a cool machine to lying face down with bloody palms with a cross of grin and shock written all over my face. To make matters worse, the whole department was there to witness my whole maneuver. As I got up i cursed the vespa and swore that I will never ride its friggin ironing board seat again. Or so I thought…
As fate would have it I got the chance again to own these interesting beauties. The very same friend told me of someone who was selling his vespa. I already own a much bigger displacement bike but was quite unhappy with it come traffic and finding a parking space for it. I needed something that will be easy to maintain, fun to ride, and definitely hold its own parked among the sea of bikes of all shapes and sizes. So I closed my eyes and gave in. I briefly sold my beloved mod machine and got another cruiser type bike but I never got over the joy a vespa gave me. It gave me freedom, Go anywhere type of vehicle that nothing on this earth could ever give/satisfy. So I got my second vespa and god willing I will never let go for it is a part of who I am.
dream ends….
